Hospitality and Event Management Level 3 Diploma at Sheffield College
Is this course for me?
This course will give you an introduction to the exciting world of the Hospitality industry. You will learn the skills and processes required to prepare you for work in the industry at a supervisory level. After successful completion of the level 3 Diploma you may progress onto our level 3 craft courses specialising in kitchen or patisserie, university or in to employment.
The majority of this course is assignment based
What will I learn?
You will spend some time doing practical activities in the kitchens and restaurant to develop your basic cookery and food service skills. You will be preparing and serving food for the college restaurants and experiencing a realistic working environment .
The majority of your learning will be classroom based covering areas such as Events Management, Customer Service, Finance, Alcoholic Beverages, Personal Selling and European Food.
What else will I gain?
The Food Safety Level 2 certificate is also included within the course.
You will also gain experience in outside events and develop links with industry.
What will I need?
There is a uniform and equipment requirement for this course, order forms can be obtained through the College admission team or the course teaching team. The average cost of these requirements is £175.00
Those in financial hardship can apply for help from the college’s Learner Support Fund.

The College has an excellent reputation within the industry with our students benefiting by taking part in extracurricular events such as the ‘Tour de France’, Master Chefs Luncheons, Skills for Chefs Conference, as well as competitions and industry visits.
5 GCSEs at Grade 4 above including English Language
**Please note, if an exemption has been made, you must continue to study towards your qualification in Maths/English grade 4 or above, alongside your course.
Assignments & Coursework / Practical Assessments
At The Sheffield College we will always do our best to support you through your studies, to make them as stress free as possible. We have a specialist support team who can give you all the advice you need on all things financial, including what might be available to you, so that you don’t go short and you can concentrate all your efforts into your studies.
If you meet the eligibility criteria we’ll be able to support you with free meals. You’ll get an amount of money that you can use within the college shops and diners per day. This will be added to your student ID card which you will just swipe to purchase items.
Students (including Apprentices) of The Sheffield College who live in South Yorkshire are eligible for a 16–18 Student Pass which entitles pass holders to cheaper travel on buses and trams in South Yorkshire. Pass holders are also entitled to half fare on Northern train services in South Yorkshire.

Where can it lead?
You could progress to the one year full-time Chef’s Diploma Course, management training programmes within the industry or apply to university to study for a degree in Hospitality or Event management.
