Auto Vehicle Systems Maintenance C&G Entry Level Diploma at Northbrook College Sussex

Course description

This pre-Level 1 course is practical based and the theory is covered in the workshop doing practical tasks.

Learners will be working in our extensive modern workshop facilities with excellent resources as commented by a recent Ofsted inspection.

Entry requirements

No formal entry requirements but English and Maths will be assessed at interview and need to be at least at Entry Level 3 or GCSE grade E.

A successful interview and reference will also be required.


During the practical sessions learners will practice the assessments a number of times and their progress will be monitored and feedback given. When the learner is proficient they will undertake the assessments which must be completed to industry standards. There are also a few questions that have to be answered on each task. These are normally written but knowledge can also be orally tested.

There are no exams for the City and Guilds Entry Level 3 Diploma in Vehicle Systems Maintenance. The completed practical worksheets will be placed in a portfolio of evidence which will be assessed internally and externally.

On successful completion of practical assessments and portfolio, the learner will be awarded a City and Guilds Entry Level 3 Diploma in Vehicle Systems Maintenance.

Future opportunities

After 1 year at Entry Level you can achieve a City and Guilds Entry Level Diploma in Vehicle Systems Maintenance. This means you can progress onto the Level 1 Diploma in Vehicle Maintenance - subject to successful completion with merit profile and appropriate Maths & English qualifications. Alternatively you can seek employment and continue your qualification through the day release apprenticeship programme.
