Course description

Course content

This course explores the wide variety of services provided by hospitality organisations, whilst offering a thorough introduction to the skills required for success in the industry. Customer service and business skills are key and you will look at the range of services offered in hospitality departments, very much developing a supervisory focus. A sample of units you will study:- Introducing the UK hospitality industry and customer service People in the hospitality industry and developing skills to work in the hospitality industry Hospitality operations, preparing and serving food and beverages Business and finance, Alcoholic beverage service European food Contemporary Cuisine Industry related project in hospitality As part of this qualification you will develop your study skills in the following:- The sector and the way it works How to run a restaurant, café or hotel Customer service and what it means Food and drink service All students for the BTEC Level 3 Diploma will undertake additional qualifications to equip future employees with business acumen to lead new ventures and develop the offer of successful hospitality in the UK.

Entry requirements

A relevant level 2 qualification at a merit grade or above or 4 GCSEs at grade C or above to include maths and english (or equivalent). "If you do not have a Grade A to C in English and/or Maths, you will be required to continue studying these subjects as part of your Study Programme."

Assessment

You will be mainly assessed through coursework including projects, assignments, presentations and practical work experience. There will also be practical observations for restaurant service and cooking skills.

Future opportunities

Successful completion of Level 3 can lead to the Foundation Degree or Degree in Hospitality Business Management available at Middlesbrough College, or other related subject areas including Events, Culinary Arts Management and Consumer Management.
