Brickwork - City & Guilds Construction Certificate in Brickwork Foundation Learning (Entry Level) at Hopwood Hall College
The Entry Level qualification provides a basic introduction in to the area of brickwork by covering basic principles through a mixture of practical work and classroom work.
The practical work teaches the learner some of the hands-on skills needed for the trade, the classroom work teaches the learner about what the trade involves. There is an element of basic Maths included in the classwork for this course.
Topics on this course include:
- Health and Safety and welfare in construction
- Principles of building construction, information and communication
- Contribute to setting out and building masonry structures up to damp proof course
- Block-laying activities
- Bricklaying activities
- Cavity walling activities
Students will also attend tutorial sessions on a weekly basis where topics to develop employability skills will be covered.
No formal qualifications. Functional Skills in English and Maths will be taught alongside the course.
Upon completion of this course, learners can progress onto the Level 1 Diploma in Brickwork to gain further skills and knowledge in the area, or follow the brickwork apprenticeship route.
Possible careers include: Construction worker, bricklayer or building maintenance manager.
