Design and Technology GCSE (AQA) Food Technology at Ryburn Valley High School
Food Technology consists of a coursework element worth 60%. This element involves producing a folder of work demonstrating skills in researching, designing, developing, planning and evaluating. It also includes the making of a range of food products.Candidates also sit an exam at the end of the course which is worth 40% of the overall mark.
You could take this course to prepare for advanced level courses such as an A/AS Level in Design and Technology or you may need to strengthen your grades by completing a foundation or intermediate vocational qualification.With further training, you could go into a job related to Design and Technology and Electronics such as an Technician, Electrician or Design Engineer. You could also go straight into employment and do further training or part time study with the support of your employer.
