Hospitality & Catering

If you have the appetite, then we have the ingredients for success. Our dedicated assessors can visit learners at their place of work and carry out work based assessments to increase knowledge and understanding within the sector.

The learners will also be given the opportunity to attend a range of short courses to support their qualification. These short courses are held either at our state of the art training centre in Mattishall, on a regular basis or within your work place. This will give our learners a great opportunity to develop their on and off job practical experience, skills and knowledge through planning, preparing and cooking a range of popular dishes.

Hospitality & Catering qualifications have specific pathways that are able to cover all job roles in the industry, from front of house to housekeeping, professional cookery and service.

Which Level?


Level 2: You have some knowledge and skills in the industry – probably from a role where you work under supervision. You want a formal qualification that will help you in your hospitality career. You may be taking the qualification as part of an Apprenticeship.

Level 3:You’ve worked in the industry for some time and you might already supervise others or manage resources. You want a formal qualification that could help you move into a management role. You may be taking this as part of an Advanced Apprenticeship.


Course content


Apprenticeships in hospitality and catering are available at both Apprenticeship and Advance Apprenticeship levels. These are delivered within the workplace, so to reduce impact in the working environment.

The Apprenticeship is ideal for new entrants or those already working in the industry and want improve their knowledge and skills, to gain a recognised qualification. The Apprenticeship framework consists of the following:

  • Level 2 NVQ Diploma (varying pathways depending on job role)
  • Functional Skills Maths Level 1
  • Functional Skills English Level 1
  • Level 2 Technical Certificate in Hospitality & Catering (varying pathways depending on job role)

The Advanced Apprenticeship is ideal for those working in a professional cooking environment or in a supervisory role within the hospitality and catering industry. The Advanced Apprenticeship framework consists of the following:

  • Level 3 NVQ Diploma Professional Cooker OR Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Hospitality Supervision and Leadership
  • Functional Skills Maths Level 2
  • Functional Skills English Level 2
  • Level 3 Technical Certificate in Hospitality & Catering.
