Sport And Physical Education at The Sixth Form College Colchester

Course description

This involves a multi-disciplinary modular approach to the participation in and the study of Sport and Physical Education. 70% of the final assessment is based on the theoretical study of anatomy, physiology, psychology, and socio-cultural aspects of sport which will be examined via a written examination paper.

Coursework: At AS Level the 30 coursework relates to a critical reflection of performance in a chosen sport as a performer or coach. There will be a practical and written component. The sport chosen must be taken from the approved AQA list of activitie (includes a selection of disability sports).

Entry requirements

A good level of experience and ability in at least one of the AQA accepted practical activity is expected (video evidence may be requested early on). Previous study of GCSEPhysical Education is not necessary but if taken, a grade B is required. In addition a grade C in Core and Additional Science or Biology is a requirement. A minimum grade B (or 5) or above is also needed in at least one predominantly written based GCSE subject (from English, English language, English Literature,History, Religious Studies or Sociology).
