Art (Fine Art) at The Sixth Form College Colchester

Course description

This is a broad, practical course which introduces students to a wide range of materials and techniques within painting, printmaking, sculpture and Fine Art practices.

Students are encouraged to think independently and use their practical art skills to create a personal response to the world around them. The course enables students to extend their skills through guided and independent practical work complemented with research into the work of other artists.

Entry requirements

A grade C in GCSE Art, Textiles or Graphics is required. If these subjects have not been studied to GCSE level students can either request an 'entry assessment task' from the Admissions Office (please email: admissions@colchsfc.ac.uk), or can consider an art related Additional Study in the first year at College with the aim of starting AS art in year 2. AS Fine Art can be combined with other Art and Design subjects (eg: Photography, Textiles, Art History or Graphical Communications).
