Art and Design Level 3 at Gateshead College

Course description

Our Level 3 Art & Design programme is designed to give you more choice, more opportunity for creative expression and more chanc

This course allows you to select combined modules from the options below. You will then choose your specialist module to work on a personal final major project, build a portfolio of work for progression to Higher Education and/or employment and showcase your creative ability in a final year exhibition.

You will work with a highly specialist team of teaching staff with industrial links in the creative sector.

Student artwork is regularly displayed at the Sage and Baltic, two nationally prestigious venues in Gateshead.

Entry requirements

  • Four GCSEs at C or above, or a Level 2 Diploma at Merit or above, preferably in appropriate subject areas. Level 2 English/literacy is essential.
  • Level 2 Math/numeracy is desirable.
  • Students without either or both will be encouraged to study them alongside their main programme. appropriate experience.

Assessment

Continuous assessment using class based assignments and portfolio of evidence

Future opportunities

Fast-track to an apprenticeship

If you can’t find the right apprenticeship vacancy or you want to do some studying first - no problem. You can start on a vocational study programme then once you’re ready and a vacancy becomes available, we’ll help you transfer on to an apprenticeship

The creative industries department have been awarded a good grade with outstanding features by Ofsted. We were highly commended for our industrial links and partnerships. We're industry focused and have partnerships with a range of creative businesses and organisations.

These partnerships provide a range of great opportunities, including placements and real-world project briefs.

    • Gateshead College's Baltic Campus is located on the Gateshead quayside, just minutes from Newcastle City Centre and its attractions.

      The College is situated behind the BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art and The Sage Gateshead.

      The College has its own car park, but at busy times alternative parking is available nearby.

      There is a charge for parking. Students can apply for a permit to allow free parking during study time.
