A Level: Mathematics at Bosworth Academy

Course description

To complete your A Level in Maths you study a further three modules at A2.  

At A Level you are expected to take more responsibility for your understanding and learning and after every lesson you will need to spend time trying questions and making sure you do understand


Course content

The units studied are Pure Core 3, Pure Core 4 and Mechanics 1.  In the pure units you continue to develop the areas covered at AS, inparticular calculus, and trigonometry, but you also study exponential and logarithmic functions in more depth and meet some areas such as vector geometry. The analytical and problem-solving you develop througha study of mathematicsw will stand you in good stead for a wide variety of other subjects and further study.  

Entry requirements

Grade 6 or above in GCSE Maths.

Future opportunities

An AS in Maths is valuable itself as well as being a supproting subject to many courses at A Level and degree level.  In particular Physics, Chemistry and Computer Science, but also Biology and the Social Sciences.  The could lead onto a university course in Mathematics or related areas such as Engineering, Economics, Physics or more general degree courses.  You could go into a job related to Mathematics such as accounting, engineering, finance, architecture, medicine etc.  Studying AS Maths will help you develop the skills, understanding and kowledge that many employers across business and industry are looking for
