Religious Studies Yr 10 at Copthall School

Course description

The courses seek to ensure that students become scientifically literate and will be well prepared to live and work in an increasingly scientific and technological world.  The courses contain an equal proportion of Biology, Chemistry and Physics. This Science qualification is examined by module examinations taken over the year and coursework, and leads to the awarding of 1 GCSE. Students following this course are entered for the higher tier (A* - D) or the foundation tier (C – G) according to their ability.  The course covers 7 topics such as How Science works; Human Biology; Evolution and Environments; Products from rocks; Oils, Earth and Atmosphere; Energy and Electricity; Radiation and the Universe. Students who have taken Core Science in Year 10 will progress to Additional Science in Year 11, giving a further insight to Science. The grade achieved for this GCSE is completely independent from the Core Science GCSE grade. Students following this course are also entered for the higher tier (A* - D) or the foundation tier (C – G) according to their ability.
