Mathematics at Hanley Castle High School

Course description

This course require commitment and hard work from the outset. All of the units required for A2 level are dependent on a sound basis of study at AS level.

Homework and assignments will be given on a regular basis, and high standards in the quality of work and in meeting deadlines will be expected. The most difficult aspect that students encounter centres around algebraic manipulation. Once this has been mastered, their confidence increases substantially, as does their level of success in the subject in general.

The Maths AS level course is examined on 3 components:
* Pure Maths 1 (C1)
* Pure Maths 2 (C2)
* Statistics (S1) or Mechanics (M1) or Decision (D1)

The A2 level course is as follows:
* Pure Maths 3 (C3)
* Pure Maths 4 (C4)
* Statistics (S1) or Decision (D1) or Mechanics (M1)

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at A*-C.

A minimum of grade B and having taken GCSE at Higher Tier.
