Preparation for Apprenticeship Programme - Work Skills at Minsthorpe Community College, A Specialist Science College
The course combines classwork with work placement. Students undertake three days in college and two days on placement. The placement is tailored to the student's area of interest as best as possible. The only cost implications are travel to the work placement

Preparing for an Interview,
Managing your own Money,
Positive Attitudes and Behaviour at Work,
Effectiveness at Work,
Working in a Team,
Preparing for Work Placement,
Learning from Work Placement
Reflecting on Work Placement.
The evidence for most of this either comes from class work or from work placement where students must complete a log book. The final unit covered involves students working together to create a summer fair.
3 GCSEs grades D-E - 3/2 (support with Resit Maths and English if below a 4)
The concept of the course is to get students ready to be a successful applicant in an apprenticeship area of their choice
Students will be expected to attend their work placement two days a week as if a member of staff
