Course description

A Level courses based on this specification should encourage candidates to:

  • develop and apply their understanding of the concepts and methods appropriate for the analysis and study of language;
  • undertake independent investigation of work related to language in use;
  • engage creatively and independently with a varied programme for the study of English from the past to the present day;
  • develop their skills as producers and interpreters of language.

Investigating Language

The relative percentage weighting of this unit within the qualifications is 20.00%

Entry requirements

At least 5A* to C at GCSE including English Language (B Grade or above) and Maths

 

Assessment

  • Coursework
  • Written Examination

All A2 units are assessed through independent assessment. Holistic assessment is addressed within A2 units.

Future opportunities

This qualification may form part of the entry requirements for progression to higher education or employment.
