Applied Business Studies at The Beaconsfield School

Course description

This business course revolves around studying businesses in practice. You will find out how businesses are established, how they operate and how they market themselves. In past years we have studied companies such as Thorpe Park and Woburn Safari Park as well as local cinemas and hotels. Using real businesses gives you a much deeper insight into how these well-known companies operate and allows you to see how theory is put into practice.This course is a mixture of teacher lead classes, independent research tasks and report writing that will equip any candidate with the skills valued by both higher education and further training at work.

The course covers the following units and more:

  • Unit 1: Investigating People at work- Exam in the summer of Year 12
  • Unit 2: Investigating Business- Coursework
  • Unit 3: Investigating Marketing- Coursework
  • Entry requirements

    You will need a minimum of 5 GCSEs grades A*-C including English and Maths. If you have studied Business before, a C grade is needed.
