Health & Social Care BTEC Level 3 National Diploma at Varndean College
If you are interested in a career in the health sector, social care sector or teaching you will find these courses of particular benefit. They provide an insight into the health and social care professions with varied and exciting links to all aspects of health and social care. The course includes visits to local services and guest speakers.
National Diploma (equivalent to two A Levels)
The course allows the student to complete 100 hours’ professional practice (over two years) working in the local community. Students will also be able to evidence their practice to support health care applications for work or university.
The course consists of 8 units, a mixture of external and internal assessment. This qualification has been designed to account for two-thirds of a two-year, full-time study programme for learners who are intending to go onto further study or work in a related sector. It supports access to a range of higher education courses if taken as part of a programme of study that includes another BTEC or A Level alongside it.

Standard advanced course rquirements.
These BTEC Level 3 courses will be assessed internally through course work and externally through exams and research project. Professional practice of 100 hours must be completed for the National Diploma.
Careers in the health, social care sectors or a progression route to continue onto a university degree in nursing, social work, teaching or counselling.
