Mathematics GCSE at The Astley Cooper School
You will be improving your skills in algebra, and shape & space as well as data handling with the aim of gaining at least grade C. A focus on number skills both with and without a calculator will provide you with important life skills. A scientific calculator is needed for this course. How is the course examined or assessed? Two written papers, each 1 ¾ hours long. The first paper is non-calculator. The second exam is calculator based.
A GCSE Mathematics grade of C or above opens the door to many university courses as well as improving your chances in many employment sectors.
You will follow this course with two or three other AS/A2 levels. A C grade is usually a requirement for further study in any field.
