Art (Fine Art) - A-Level at The Ridgeway School and Sixth Form College
What will I be studying?
You will study one coursework and one examination unit. The themes for study are traditional subjects: still-life figure, interior and landscape etc. But these have a modern slant. There are a number of new techniques and processes involved, such as silkscreen and relief printmaking, as well as traditional skills such as drawing, collage and painting.
The A Level course builds on the experiences and skills from AS and introduces a personal study as one of the units.
Where can it take me?
Both AS and A Level Art and Design are recognised qualifications in their own right. Universities accept AS Art, and it is expected that all students applying for Foundation Art and other Art courses will have AS Art as a minimum qualification. A Level Art and Design is recognised by universities for the majority of courses. It can be used as a subject in its own right, or with other A Levels for non-art courses.
At least 4 C grades at GCSE (or equivalent) in at least 3 different subjects.
