Nail Services Advanced Apprenticeship Level 3 at Bishop Auckland College

Course description

Apprenticeships are practical hands on programmes designed to provide you with the relevant, practical training, which will enable you to progress with you chosen industry. The Advanced Apprenticeship follows on for the basic beauty therapy techniques you will have covered on a Level 2 Nail Services or Beauty Therapy training programme.
As an Advanced Nail Technician Apprentice you will work under guidance of a qualified Therapist/Technician; assisting other members of staff and carrying out other beauty treatments you are qualified in. Duties are likely to include gel nails, liquid and powder nails, fibreglass nails, nail art and 3D nail art. You will study topics such as anatomy and physiology, consultation and client care, health and safety, financial effectiveness and planning a promotion.
On this advanced apprenticeship programme you are promoting your skills and industry so it is important that you look smart and your appearance reflects the image of your salon. Good communication plays a role too; youll need to understand exactly what you customer wants in order to fulfil their needs.

Course content

You will be required to complete the NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Nail Services as well as completing Employment Rights and Responsibilities and Personal Learning and Thinking Skills. If it is required, you will need to complete Functional Skills in Maths and English. You will be allocated an Assessor who will visit the workplace and give you support.

Future opportunities

The course will give you a nationally recognised qualification at level 3 level, alongside invaluable experience gained in dealing with and working as part of a team. Your salon will help with your training on a daily basis and offer sessions for you to practice your skills.


What can I do when I finish?

Progression to an Apprenticeship in Beauty Therapy or qualifications in teacher training. Your Apprenticeship through Bishop Auckland College could lead to one of the following careers: employment in a beauty or nail salon, working abroad and on cruise ships, own a salon, company representative, brand ambassador.
