D & T: Resistant Materials GCSE AQA 3545 at Sandown Bay Academy

Course description

The course aim is to give students a thorough grounding in the use of wood, metal and plastic through Focused Pratical Tasks - students then design their own artefacts. Currently the coursework is the design and manufacture of a saleable toy or clock. Assessment is through coursework 60% and end of course examination 40%

Future opportunities

You could take this course to prepare for advanced level courses such as an A/AS Level in Design and Technology or you may need to strengthen your grades by completing a foundation or intermediate vocational qualification. With further training, you could go into a job related to Design and Technology and Electronics such as an Technician, Electrician or Design Engineer. You could also go straight into employment and do further training or part time study with the support of your employer.
