Plant Maintenance (Construction) - Intermediate (Level 2) and Advanced (Level 3) Apprenticeship at Askham Bryan College

Course description

Work-based learning and assessment at your place of work with some college based study. Learners must be in a paid work placement to commence an apprenticeship programme. The work-based route involves practising and demonstrating a range of practical and theory skills and includes completing a Work-Based Diploma at Level 2 or 3 plus Functional Skills at an appropriate level.

Learners would usually enter at the Intermediate Apprenticeship (Level 2) stage before progressing to the Advanced Apprenticeship (Level 3). Those employed in the industry and have an increased level of responsibility may also be considered for the Advanced Apprenticeship.

Course Themes:

• Bench fitting and basic engineering • Advanced service and maintenance procedures • Computerised control systems • Diagnostic procedures and operational inspections • Overhaul procedures • Welding and fabrication • Employer rights and responsibilities • English and maths provision where applicable

Entry requirements

Apprenticeship: No Formal entry qualifications. You need an appropriate work placement or employment. We may be able to help you to find a suitable position.

Advanced Apprenticeship: You normally need to have successfully completed Level 2 and/or have considerable work experience. You need an appropriate work placement or employment which involves a level of responsibility. We may be able to help you find a suitable position.
