Plumbing Level 1,2 and 3 Diploma at Mid Cheshire College

Course description

This course is for anyone with a lively and enquiring mind and a willingness to explore new ideas. It will appeal to students who:
• Want the opportunity to carry out practical work covering craft and technician skills
• Enjoy studying a subject that is relevant to their own lives and experiences
• Enjoy finding out answers – not just being taught
• Wish to study a modular course and get tested on each unit.

Course content

This course includes a Study Programme to provide learners with a coherent and enriching curriculum which will provide them with the academic, social and employability skills to progress to further or higher education or employment.

The content of the study programme is designed to broaden the learner experience beyond the main qualification of study.

The key theme of Study Programmes at Level 1 will be preparation for the world of work and the development of personal, social and employability skills.

The key theme of Study Programmes at Level 2 will be the development of occupational skills in a selected vocational area and the development of personal, social and employability skills with a view to raising aspirations.

As well as your core qualification you will study GCSE or Functional Skills English and/or maths plus English and maths development as part of the core qualification.

Learners will also undertake personal progress planning and pastoral education. Plus additional personal development activity which may include work experience and projects.

Entry requirements

Diploma Level 1 - 2 GCSEs at Grade E - G or an Entry Level qualification.

Diploma Level 2 - Successful completion of Diploma Level 1.

For Level 3 you need to qualify at level 2.


The programme is assessed on a modular basis. Practical assessment is with the use of timed assignments and there are some written assignments.
At level 2 there are a number of online assessments.
At level 3 there are also written assessments accompanying the online assessment.

Future opportunities

On successful completion of this course you will be able to seek employment in the plumbing trade, possibly as an Advanced Apprentice. Where you can convert your diplomas into NVQs.
