Design & Technology: Product Design (Graphics, Resistant Materials or Textiles) at St Mark's Catholic School

Course description

The course is designed to encourage students to take a broad view of design and technology, to develop their capacity to design and make products, and to appreciate the complex relationships between design, materials, manufacture and marketing. It is intended to reflect the wide ranging activities of professional designers and cover a wide range of materials. The ability to communicate their thinking and ideas clearly through graphical presentation is an essential tool for all students on this course. Students will be encouraged to show innovation and creativity to produce high quality products. They will develop a critical understanding of materials, processes and products from a historical and current perspective. Students will use ICT to enhance their designing skills. The course will also incorporate broader issues relating to design and technology and its influence on society.
