Chemistry (A LEVEL) at Queensbury Academy

Course description

The Chemistry course for AS and A2 students covers a variety of topics ranging from traditional chemistry ideas such as rates of reaction and bonding; to ideas of how chemistry is relevant to everyday life through topics such as biodegradable plastics and doping control in sport. Chemistry is a blend of the theoretical and the experimental and its study is both challenging and rewarding. The course will provide students with ample opportunity to cultivate problem solving, intellectual and practical skills.

Entry requirements

Two Sciences and Maths GCSE grade C or better.

Chemistry is a prerequisite for many university courses e.g. medicine, veterinary science, dentistry, pharmacy, biochemistry, physiotherapy, forensic science, biotechnology, environmental science and other physical science courses. Chemists can also pursue careers in law, business, accountancy and industry. If you want any science-based career, then Chemistry keeps your options open. Chemistry AS, in itself, is certain to be a very useful qualification.
