Business Administration Level 3 at Sheffield College
This is a one year full time course.
Is this course for me?
This course will suit you if you are an organised person who enjoys working on computers and wishes to gain the skills and qualifications needed to eventually work in a supervisory role in an office environment.
What will I learn?
- How to produce a range of complex business documents using Microsoft OfficeTM
- Functions and roles of business organisations
- Recruitment and selection processes
- Working in an administration team
- Legislation affecting organisations
What else will I gain?
The opportunity to retake GCSEs or functional skills in English and/or maths. Additional qualifications in text processing, speed keying, audio transcription, and mailmerge.

Unit assessment to cover theory and practical tasks takes place in College lessons and tutor observations of students working well on work experience are used to enhance the assignments. There are also some exams.
At The Sheffield College we will always do our best to support you through your studies, to make them as stress free as possible. We have a specialist support team who can give you all the advice you need on all things financial, including what might be available to you, so that you don’t go short and you can concentrate all your efforts into your studies.
If you meet the eligibility criteria we’ll be able to support you with free meals. You’ll get an amount of money that you can use within the college shops and diners per day. This will be added to your student ID card which you will just swipe to purchase items.
Students (including Apprentices) of The Sheffield College who live in South Yorkshire are eligible for a 16–18 Student Pass which entitles pass holders to cheaper travel on buses and trams in South Yorkshire. Pass holders are also entitled to half fare on Northern train services in South Yorkshire.

Where can it lead?
It is possible to apply for an apprenticeship in Business & Administration which involves working towards an NVQ certificate in Business & Administration at level 2 or an advanced apprenticeship at level 3. This means working in a job for 4 days a week and attending College for one day a week.
It is possible to apply for a job on completion at an intermediate level within a company.
