Course description

We are planning to cover the following topics:


Year One:

Sociological Methods with Education

Family and Households


Year Two

Sociological Methods with Crime and Deviance.

Beliefs in Society

Entry requirements

All Level 3 students must have 5 separate GCSE passes (A*-C), including English Language and Maths.  

Grade B in English Language, Grade C in Sociology(if studied at GCSE)

Future opportunities

Students will find Sociology an exciting subject which focuses on the heart of social interaction and we behave with others around us. However, it is also a demanding subject and students will be expected to do a high level of independent reading and note-taking ‘around the subject’. Students will also be required to apply ‘real life’ events to what they have learnt in the classroom in order to gain a deeper level of understanding

Sociology is a stepping stone to several career options which involve working with people, below are just a selection of careers the subject will open up to you:
