Course description

AS Physical Education covers every aspect of sport and provides the opportunity to learn more about performance in your specialist sports; why your performance level may vary; how to prepare both physically and mentally for sport and how to practise effectively. The course is suitable for students who have taken GCSE PE, GCSE Short Course PE, GCSE Dance or who have simply enjoyed PE over the last 2 years and would like to learn more about sport and related issues.

Five GCSEs grade A-C, including English and Maths.

Future opportunities

You could take this course to complement other advanced level courses such as Science or to prepare for the A2 part of an Advanced GCE in Physical Education, which could lead onto higher education in areas of Sport Studies, Recreation, Exercise and Science or more general higher education courses. With further training you could go into a job related to Physical Education such as a Physiotherapist, Teacher or Exercise and Fitness Trainer. You could also go straight into a job as the AS GCE is a recognised qualification that will help you develop the skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers across lots of industries are looking for, especially in the Sporting and Health Sectors.
