Land-based Entry Level 2 and 3 Study Programmes at Askham Bryan College
Entry Level programmes are for anyone with learning difficulties or disabilities or who wishes to study in a vocational area. If you need extra help with learning, but like to be active and on the go, and are up for trying new and exciting things, this could be the opportunity you are looking for.
The Animal Care strand is delivered in the College’s Animal Management unit where a broad range of animals are cared for. The Land and Plants Vocational strand has a well developed horticulture area managed specifically by Independence students who grow their own produce.
This course is also run out our specialist study centres based in Leeds (Temple Newsam) and Middlesbrough (Newham Grange Farm).

• Entry Level 3 Land and Plants
It is possible to study a combination of different strands either full time or part time. Students are able to study strands as part of a Personalised Learning Plan.

There are no formal qualifications required for Entry Level 2 but a commitment to achievement, working outside and having fun would be required. You need to have completed Entry Level 2 before starting Level 3.
A mix of practical and written evidence through portfolio building.

After Entry Level 2 move on to Entry Level 3.
After Entry Level 3 you could move on to a Level 1 course such as the Diploma in Land Based Studies or a Level 2 Apprenticeship.
Appropriate work in garden centres, landscaping, conservation, kennels, animal sanctuaries and pet shops.
