Art and design - BTEC Extended Diploma in Art and Design - Fashion and Textiles Pathway level 3 at Kirklees College: Dewsbury Centre
You will explore and experiment with aspects of fashion and textiles taking part in a series of creative briefs, developing your ideas through research, drawing and fabric manipulation.
You will look into textiles processes, the technical aspects of fashion promotion and illustration, as well as using digital software.
You will have opportunities to take part in live projects and competitions, go on regular visits and trips to museums, galleries and exhibitions as well as fashion events, trade exhibitions and higher education fairs.
You will study:
- drawing and idea development,
- fabric manipulation,
- textile design techniques and processes,
- surface pattern,
- pattern cutting,
- textiles crafts,
- portfolio development.
A minimum of 5 GCSEs with the following grades:
English and maths at 4 or above, and 3 other GCSE’s grade C or above
And a portfolio of work
• A minimum of five GCSEs grade A*-C including English language and an art,
design or a craft related subject, and maths at grade D or above, or
• a level 2 art and design qualification at overall merit grade, English at level 2 and
maths at level 1.
You will need a strong portfolio of art and design work which shows your enthusiasm for the subject.
As a full time student you should not need to pay any course or examination fees (under 19).
There may be a cost for equipment, educational visits, printing etc.
You can progress to BA (Honours) Degree Fashion Design and Manufacture at Batley School of Art.
