BTEC Subsidiary Diploma in Creative Media Production - Level 3 at Slough and Eton Church of England Business and Enterprise College

Course description

This course is for students who wish to develop their graphic, written and presenting skills in order to enter the media industry. Pupils undertake three mandatory units and up to four optional units over the two year course. They are introduced to all aspects of the publishing industry - technology, printing methodology, media theory, legislation, writing and editing graphics.

Mandatory Units:

  • Pre-Production Techniques for the Creative Media Industries
  • Communication Skills for Creative Media Production
  • Research Techniques for the Creative Media Industries

    Optional Units include:

  • Understanding the Print-Based Media Industries
  • Producing Print-Based Media
  • Page Layout and Design
  • Digital Graphics for Print.

    The course is coursework based with a variety of practical elements including everything from professional prints of work to reflective essays to producing magazine/newspaper layouts. You will have 6 lessons of 50 minutes class time each school week with a subject specialist. At the end of the second year there is a final production assignment which will be showcased.

  • Entry requirements

    5 A* - C including English and Mathematics. Students must be creative, self motivated practitioners who are willing to challenge and pursue their own ideas, thoughts and interests during the mandatory and optional units.
