Spanish (ab initio) at The Sixth Form College Colchester
This is a course designed for students with no previous knowledge of the language. It is open to students who have already studied a different language at GCSE and to students who have not had the opportunity to take a GCSE in a foreign language. In a few cases, it may be appropriate for students who have already studied spanish at GCSE level to join this course.
All students who choose this course will need to be willing to learn vocabulary and grammar on a regular basis. The main aim of the course is the acquisition of language skills for use in everyday social situations. Language skills will be assessed through oral, reading and writing tasks. All students have the chance to join our annual trip to Spain, as well as take part in cultural activities such as our film club.
The entry requirements for the IB Diploma are broadly the same as for a 4AS programme. However, students will normally need to have C or above passes in English or English Language, Maths, Science and in a modern foreign language (where taken).
