Information Technology, Level 2 Diploma at Abingdon and Witney College

Course description

This is a work-related qualification which provides preparation for employment in a variety of IT-based occupations in a trainee capacity. The course provides a good practical grounding in the use of information technology and an understanding of how it affects us all in the way we work. The topics covered include; practical experience in a variety of software packages such as word processing, databases, spreadsheets, graphics packages, web-page design and creation. Looking at the functions of hardware and software and the role of IT in the workplace – how it is used by people and organisations to handle, process and present information. The course offers a range of learning experiences in the form of practical use of information technology, related theoretical issues together with tutorial support throughout the year. Assessment is by internally assessed coursework.


Entry requirements

A keen interest in the use of Information Technology with four GCSEs at grade D including English & Maths (or Functional Skills Level 1)
