Occupational Studies (Catering) Level 2 at Birmingham Metropolitan College (BMET)

Course description

You will undertake practical work experience within the College refectory enabling you to learn in a real workplace setting. English and maths are embedded into these sessions. Theory sessions are also timetabled into the week to help underpin your practical knowledge gained and support maths and English skills development.

Entry requirements

You will be required to undertake a practical assessment (taster day), where suitability will be determined.

Assessment

Learners will produce a portfolio which will include written work, video and photographic evidence to substantiate their learning and understanding.

Future opportunities

Learners may progress onto a Level 3 qualification or may choose to gain paid or voluntary employment.

    • The Centre of Sporting Excellence (CoSE) is based on the outskirts of Kidderminster at Brinton’s Field. This is our specialist facility for sports courses in Kidderminster and the Black Country.

      The facilities include six football pitches, two rugby pitches, a ‘trophy’ pitch, a golf driving range and a strength and conditioning gym spread over 40 acres of land.

      We also have use of partner community sports facilities including local golf, boxing and rugby clubs and the playing fields are also used by Kidderminster Harriers Football Academy.

      The Centre of Sporting Excellence offers a range of Sports Academies which are designed to bridge the gap between community sports and education.

      The unique partnerships mean that students study for sport related academic courses as well as developing their sporting skills with professional, qualified and experienced coaches across all academies with the opportunity to take part in local, regional and national competitions.
