BTEC Fashion & Clothing (Art & Design) at Norwood School
BTEC Fashion & Clothing is a two-year course in which students study 12 units. 5 units cover the core skills required in all Art & Design BTEC courses plus 7 individually tailored units specifically targeted towards careers in Fashion & Textiles.
Over the two-year course students will get the chance to explore a range of exciting units that will equip them with the skills needed to follow a career in Fashion/Textile Design. Students will design, make patterns for, and manufacture a number of garments in each year of the course culminating in the annual fashion show.
Themes of projects change each year and have included ‘Urban Decay’ inspired scarves, ‘The Red Dress Collection’, sculptural textiles based on body armour and ‘Icons - Little Black Dress’ project. Students will also explore various innovative illustration and presentation techniques in the process of communicating their design ideas.
Minimum of C grades at GCSE in English and at least one Arts based subject such as Graphics, Photography, Fine Art or Textiles.
