Mathematics A Level at London Academy

Course description

During the course you will:

  • Develop your understanding of mathematics and mathematical processes
  • Develop abilities to reason logically and construct mathematical proofs
  • Understand the relationship between ‘real world’ problems and mathematical models
  • Acquire the skills to use technology such as calculators and computers efficiently
  • Develop an understanding of how different areas of Mathematics can be connected
  • Use Mathematics as an effective means of communication

The course consists of 6 modules:

  • C1 Core Maths 1– Algebra, Sequences, Series, Proof
  • C2 Core Maths 2– Differentiation, Integration, Trigonometry, Exponentials, Logarithms
  • C3 Core Maths 3– Functions, Numerical Methods
  • C4 Core Maths 4 – Co-ordinate Geometry and Vectors
  • S1 Statistics- Representation of data, Probability, Correlation and Regression
  • M1 Mechanics 1 – Kinematics and Dynamics, Forces, Vectors, Moments

Entry requirements

Students are expected to have gained 5 A*- C grades at GCSE including Mathematics.
