Health and Social Care Cambridge Technical Level 3 at The Misbourne School
Health and social care has been developed to provide a broad educational basis for further training, further education or for moving into appropriate employment within the health and social care sector.
It is a very practical portfolio based subject which is delivered in a work related context and allows students to develop an understanding of the diverse and complex nature of the health and social care sector.
You will need to have an interest in health and social care, good communication skills, a lively and enquiring mind and high quality presentation skills.
Lessons are delivered through a combination of group work, teacher led activities and independent learning. There is a very strong emphasis on independent internet research which requires students to be able to manage their own time effectively to meet deadlines.

English Language or English Literature (4), Mathematics (4), and if taken, Health and Social Care (B)
Five A* - C GCSE grades or equivalent, including GCSE English Language and GCSE Mathematics at grade 4 as long as the subject entry requirements above do not state the need for a higher grade..
In exceptional circumstances, students with GCSE English Language or GCSE Mathematics grade 3 may be considered.
Students below grade 4 in GCSE English Language and GCSE Mathematics will undertake the statutory retake programme, attending lessons throughout Sixth Form until they achieve at least a grade 4
Assessment is a mixture of external examinations and internally assessed work which is then moderated by OCR.
Students in The Misbourne Sixth Form who experience financial constraints or barriers can apply to access additional funding to support their academic journey through their Key Stage 5 studies.
Students who meet the eligibility criteria can access this additional funding to assist with the cost of transport, essential course equipment, meals in school, educational visits, uniform or other school resources, the cost of attending university or career interviews, financial support towards childcare costs or exam re-sit fees.
A Bursary Fund Committee meets three times a year to consider applications and award bursaries.
This course supports progression into further education, training or employment. Student have the option to go on to study a range of degrees in the health and social care sector of industry.
