Year 12

Unit 1 - Physical and Human Geography

Physical Geography
* Rivers (floods and management)
* Coastal environments

Human Geography
* Population
* Energy

Unit 2 - Geographical skills

* Investigative
* Cartographic
* Statistical skills

Year 13

Unit 3 - Contemporary Geographical Issues

Students will study a minimum of three options, including a minimum of one physical and one human option.

Physical Options
* Plate tectonics
* Weather and climate
* Ecosystems: change and challenge

Human Options
* World Cities
* Development issues
* Contemporary conflicts and challenges

Unit 4 - Geographical Issue Evaluation

Students will research into an area which extends from the topics already covered. Students receive a pre release information booklet. This will be studied in class and examined.

Entry requirements

Students will be considered for AS Geography if they achieve at least a solid Grade C or above in Geography and a Grade B in GCSE English Language.
