In the Royal Navy, we rely on computers just as much as any civilian organisation. So we have the same need for specialists who know how IT systems work, how to use them and how to fix them. The only difference is that, with us, you could be using your skills on a warship, submarine or shore base anywhere in the world.

Course content

The Royal Navy couldn’t function without computers. Through your IT User Apprenticeship, you’ll become an expert in operating and maintaining the databases, networks and other advanced systems the people around you rely on

Starting salary: £13,377 to £16,681 a year

You embark on your Royal Navy adventure with ten weeks of basic training at our shore base, HMS Raleigh. You can be sure these 10 weeks will test your mind and body.There will be exams to study for and physical challenges to tackle, but you will also have plenty of opportunities to relax and socialise with your fellow recruits.Not many experiences can match the feeling of marching in your passing-out parade - and the sense of achievement that goes with it.
