You will study pure mathematics and branch out to use these skills in both mechanics and statistics. The skills developed in pure mathematics will be fundamental for pursuing the applied sections where you will cover topics such as probability, numerical measures, sampling and hypothesis testing. The mechanics topics you will study include vectors, kinematics, forces and moments.
Grade 6, or above in GCSE Mathematics
5 GCSE's grade A*-C or 4 and above, including English.
An A-level in mathematics will unlock many degrees such as physics, actuarial science and of course mathematics. For some universities that offer engineering and economics, you will require an A-level in mathematics to begin the course.
It should also be noted that in order to study the following subjects to degree level you may sometimes need an A-level mathematics – computer science, accounting, chemistry, biology, medicine, dentistry, architecture, and psychology to name but a few. Mathematics can also take you into a wealth of sectors including engineering, banking, consultancy, IT, accountancy and scientific research.
