Hairdressing - Apprenticeship (Level 2) at Babington Business College - Training for today

Course description

The Hairdressing industry offers many excellent learning opportunities and a diverse range of employment options. Many workers are self-employed. Jobs are available in salons of various sizes within department stores, hotels and cruise liners. It may even be possible to diversify into work within the theatre, photography or even television or working for the manufacturers of products associated with the industry. The client’s relationship with their hairdresser is a special one and anyone entering this line of work will need a friendly, confident manner, a tactful approach and the ability to provide a listening ear. For those who succeed this area offers a flexible and highly rewarding career. Initial job roles will generally involve client care and keeping the salon clean and tidy. After time the work will move on to colouring, cutting and perming and may also include the supervision of junior staff. At Apprenticeship Level learners will work towards eight mandatory units plus a wide selection of optional units. Functional Skills - English and Mathematics.

Entry requirements

No formal qualifications are required but individuals should be enthusiatic motivated reliable and willing to work hard. Good communication skills are essential and it is important to be understanding and show respect for others. Individuals will complete a basic skills assessment test and those who display results at entry 2 or below will be provided with IAG supporting their needs and referral to the skills for life team.

Progression: Advanced Apprenticeship, senior stylist.Learners will be provided with the opportunity to enter Training for today's annual hairdressing competition.
