BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Sport at Sawtry Village Academy

Course description

The BTEC Sport course is equivalent to one A level. It has been developed in the sport and active leisure sector to provide education and training for future employees in the worlds of sport, leisure and recreation.

The course gives learners the opportunity to develop a range of techniques, personal skills and attributes essential for successful performance in working life.

It has also been designed as a work-related qualification suitable for a wide range of skills and abilities, and is built both to accommodate the needs of employers, and allow students to progress to university.  The qualification provides a more business focused, real-world approach to learning, together with a key theoretical background.

BTEC Sport includes a range of assessment types and styles suited to vocational qualifications. There are three main forms of assessment that you need to be aware of: external, internal and synoptic. You will be assessed using ‘grading criteria’ for each one of the units covered.

The assessments will be ongoing throughout the two years of the course, and will help to develop your personal learning skills. Each project you complete will be graded as a Pass, a Merit, or a Distinction, and the grade for each assignment will contribute to an overall Pass, Merit, Distinction or Distinction* for the BTEC award.

Entry requirements

Average points score of 38+ and at least grade C in GCSE English and/ or maths.
