Introduction to Early Years Education and Care Level 2 Certificate at Aylesbury College

Course description

This course is designed specifically to equip you with the skills and knowledge required to care for children from birth to 16 years-old, including babies and toddlers. The course will give you a level 2 qualification that enables you to apply for nursery assistants vacancies.

Course content

The course is both theoretical and practical, and incorporates supervised work with children in a professional, caring environment during part of the week in a variety of settings.

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs at D or above, including English and/or Maths. Entry is also dependent on an interview and a written English assessment. An enhanced DBS check will be required.


Assessment is continuous, based on assignments, practical work and workplace performance.

Financial information

There will be a course contribution fee of £100 for materials. You will spend 3 days per week in College and 2 days per week in your placement.

Future opportunities

Upon successful completion you will be able to proceed onto the CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Child Care and Education.

There are a number of positions you can apply for including Nursery Assistant, Teaching Assistant and Pre-School Assistant.
