Media, Art and Design - Level 1 BTEC Diploma in Creative Media Production (Games Development) at Wakefield College
This is an introductory course to computer games development. You will gain knowledge of the creative media sector in general, which will help you to progress in this exiting industry.
You will study a range of creative media based units, with a games focus. You will create a range of products with the ultimate goal of creating a full game demo. You will study the following units:-
Unit 05: Investigating Interactive Media Products
Unit 06: Developing Multimedia Products
Unit 07: Developing Video Products
Unit 09: Developing Animation
Unit 10: Developing Audio Production
Unit 11: Audio and Video Editing
Unit 13: Job Opportunities in Creative Media
Unit 21: The Creative Media Sector
Unit 22: Media Audiences and Products
· A minimum of four GCSEs at grade D to G or successful completion of a recognised Entry Level course.
· Other relevant qualifications or experience may be considered.
You will also need Entry 3 literacy and numeracy qualifications.
This course is assessed using a mixture of coursework assignments and projects

On successful completion of the course and the necessary entry requirements you may be able to move on to a Level 2 course in a related subject – Creative Media. Alternatively, you may choose another Level 2 course in a different sector.
As the course is designed to give you an insight to the industry you would normally progress onto a higher level course which would enable you to find work in a wide range of areas related to Media.
