What the subject is about: The media is made up of television, radio, film, the press and other forms of communication closely with associated with the media such as advertising and the internet. The emphasis in this course is upon the development of independent critical thinking skills and has not been designed as a qualification into the media industries. Media Studies attempts to systematically and progressively develop communication competencies in relation to the Mass Media. Media Studies is increasingly valued and is becoming an important aspect of work in most institutions in an information society. This qualification should therefore be of value to candidates entering employment across a wide range of industries and professions and is recognised by all universities
