Brickwork Level 1 Diploma at East Surrey College

Course description

Cover the theory and practice of bricklaying in a realistic environment during this hands-on course based in our fully equipped workshops. Learn how to build structures, handle and store resources, work as part of a team, prepare bricklaying materials and components as well as health & safety on site.

Course content

Units/topics covered:
 
 Health, safety and welfare in construction and associated industries
 Knowledge of technical information, quantities and communication with others
 Knowledge of construction technology
 Setting out for basic masonry structures
 Mix construction materials
 Construct block, brick and cavity walling

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs grade A* - E that includes English & Maths.

Assessment

Online tests and a portfolio of evidence.

Financial information

If you are under 19 on 31/08/2016, tuition is free. If you are 19 or over please consult Client Services for advice and guidance on funding and eligibility.
 
Please be aware that there may be additional costs for equipment and educational visits. This information will be available from the curriculum staff at interview

Future opportunities

Bricklaying Level 2 Diploma. It can also be used as a progression route to achieving an NVQ or Apprenticeship in bricklaying.

To meet health and safety requirements within our realistic work environment, learners must provide steel toe-capped boots/safety shoes and must wear suitable clothing.
