AS/A2 Further Mathematics at Cockburn John Charles Academy

Course description

You will use mathematical skills and knowledge to solve problems using mathematical arguments and logic. You will simplify real life situations so that you can use Mathematics to show what is happening and what might happen in different circumstances. You will use the Mathematics that you learn to solve problems that are given to you in real-life contexts.

Course content

At AS Level, you will study three modules: Further Pure 1, Decision 1 and Decision 2.

 At A Level, you will study Further Pure 2 and two other modules to be agreed with the Maths faculty, based upon preferences and strengths of students and staff.

Entry requirements

Minimum of five GCSEs at grade C or above (including English) and Maths GCSE grade A* or A.

Future opportunities

Highly regarded by top universities (Facilitating Subject).  Many career paths including Banking, Business, Teaching, Engineering and Medicine.  Good A-Levels to combine it with are Biology, Chemistry, Physics, ICT and Geography.
