Beauty Therapy: Level 2 City&Guilds VRQ Diploma at NESCOT

Course description

Full-time Beauty Therapy VRQs are for those who want to become qualified Beauty Therapists. On this study programme you will develop your practical skills.

Course content

The main course in this programme consists of underpinning knowledge and understanding alongside the development of practical skills within a salon environment treating paying clients. You will also develop key skills such as communication and information technology.

Topics covered will include facial treatments, manicures, pedicures, eyelash tints and eyebrow shaping, waxing (cool and hot), make-up and anatomy and physiology related to the treatments given. Teaching will take place in our purpose-built salons, where you will also learn about the business side of the beauty industry. Maths and English are included in your programme to boost your employability and to enable progression to higher levels of training.

You will be assessed through a variety of techniques such as written questions, on-line tests, oral questions and assignments. Your assessor will also watch you working to assess your performance in practical skills and activities.

Entry requirements

A minimum of 3 C grades and 1 D including English, or Level 1 Diploma in Beauty with the majority of grades being merits or above plus English.

Future opportunities

This course will qualify you to work as a Beauty Therapist, completing Level 2 treatments in a salon, or perhaps working in cosmetic sales. This Level 2 qualification should also enable you to progress onto further study and training, for example, the NVQ Level 3.

Further information

Students will be expected to purchase their own beauty kits for the course, including uniform, which can be brought from nominated suppliers at enrolment. Approximate cost £250.

    • By Road:
      Nescot is located just off the A240 (Reigate Road), close to the junction with the A24 (Ewell Bypass).  The College is just five miles inside the M25 (Junction 9).
      There is a large, free car park for use by students and visitors.

      By Rail:
      Nescot is served by two mainline railway stations.

      Ewell East is a two-minute walk from the College from a public footpath leading off Platform 2.  Trains run every half-hour from London Victoria.
