Course description

Intermediate Apprenticeship - Level 2
 
Level 2 Diploma in work-based Horse Care: either Horse Care, Horse Care with Riding or Breeding (depending on job role)
Technical Certificate 1st4sport Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of Horse Care
Functional Skills Maths Level 1
Functional Skills English Level 1
Employment Rights and Responsibilities
Personal Learning and Thinking Skills
 
Length of the course - 20 Months Approximately
 
During the Apprenticeship you will cover areas such as:
 
Clean and maintain stables
Provide feed and water horses
Carry out routines and monitor the health and well-being of horses
Restrain horses using specified methods
Monitoring and maintaining the health and safety
Maintain and develop personal performance
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others

 

Entry requirements

You do not always need academic qualifications to start training for a career in equine. However, some employers may prefer you to have a good standard of general Education such as GCSEs, including English and maths.

In order to start a Equestrian Apprenticeship at Level 2, you need to have a job or a placement in the industry as it is a work-based qualification.

Financial information

Your apprenticeship entitles you to up to £15,000, or 100%, of your training costs covered by government funding.
 
The training included in your apprenticeship programme is either fully or partially funded, as follows: 16 – 18 years old training is 100% funded, 19 – 24 is partially funded.
