Further Mathematics A level at Boroughbridge High School
Further Mathematics is offered as an additional A level to students with exceptional ability in Mathematics. Students who wish to study Further Mathematics must also study A level Mathematics. Students would, therefore, study two full A levels in Mathematics.
Students would be required to have attained an A* grade at GCSE level (an A grade would be considered in exceptional circumstances).
The course involves the study of a further six modules in Mathematics, four of which develop Pure (core) Mathematics techniques and a further two applied modules. These would be chosen to suit the requirements of the students.
Students with a real interest and ability in the subject should consider the option carefully, particularly if future aspirations are in the field of Mathematics or Engineering.
