Construction - Level 1 Diploma in Electrical at Wakefield College
This is an introductory course aimed at learners wanting to learn the basic skills and knowledge involved in electrical installation. The qualification covers a range of basic tasks andunderpinning knowledge involved in electrical installation
When you are enrolled on the Electrical qualification you will study wiring and terminals, fabrication techniques, and electrical science and technology. There are also a further four subjects which are covered - Structure of the construction industry, environmental and sustainability measures in domestic dwellings and site preparation in the construction industry.
This course consists of seven units, each with its own learning outcome. These units are:
- Unit 101 Structure of the construction industry.
- Unit 102 Fundamental safe working practice.
- Unit 103 Environmental and sustainability measures in domestic dwellings. Unit 104 Site preparation in the construction industry.
- Unit 105 Electrical installation wiring and termination.
- Unit 106 Fabrication techniques.
- Unit 107 Electrical science and technology.
3 GCSEs at A*-E (or new grade 9-3) AND Working at a minimum Level 1 in both English and Maths
The course is continually assessed throughout the year through written answer tests, computer based tests, practical assessments.
Tuition and certification are free if you are aged 16-18. Related additional costs may include materials, equipment, visits, and residentials, which are payable by all students.
Any student registered with an Awarding Body who has been given free entry and subsequently withdraws or is withdrawn by a tutor will incur the certification fee associated with the course. Any re-sit examination will incur a cost.
Different fees apply to international/overseas students and those studying this qualification as a standalone course.

Upon successful completion of this study programme it is possible to progress to full time study at level 2, or with suitable employment to study on a level 3 advanced apprenticeship programme in electrical Installation.
